Effective Outcomes

The Voice and Swallowing Center gets the job done quickly, accurately, and efficiently.

Your visit to the Voice and Swallowing Center of Maine will include a detailed evaluation and a clear description of exactly what your voice and swallowing problem is.

You will not be told to "come back next week" to learn what the results are.

In most cases, you will be shown how to begin to fix your voice before you leave. You'll be given a written plan so you know exactly what to do about improving your voice.

Many people are surprised to find how easy it is to make improvements in their voices.

While we don't claim to produce miraculous results, it's nice when some of our customers think so! Click here to read what one woman had to say about the results she was able to achieve.

Treatment Efficacy Better Than The National Average:

Patients evaluated and treated at the Voice and Swallowing Center are on average discharged after 4-6 treatment sessions. Nationally, voice therapy visits are reported to range from 8 to 16 visits.

(Voice therapy typically requires 1-2 therapy sessions per week for approximately 6-8 weeks. Branski, Ryan. Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center & Murry, Thomas. Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. Voice Therapy 2005.

Effective treatment for difficult problems

Rapid Treatment Response:

Of patients seen with Vocal Cord Dysfunction in the last year, 80% experienced full resolution of symptoms following the first visit.

In one unusual case, a woman with a 43 year history of progressively more severe VCD experienced total resolution of symptoms in one visit. Click here to read about this woman's success.

Chronic Problems Treated:

Individuals with chronic cough/irritable larynx syndrome, often unresponsive to other treatment approaches, may get good results in two or three visits. Some people have experienced chronic cough symptoms for many years.

With the innovative treatment approaches, many are helped after an evaluation at the Voice & Swallowing Center of Maine.
